enable exFAT file system support on Linux Mint

There is a New Update on how to enable exFAT file system on Linux (Mint).

There has been several ways of enabling exFAT file system over the years and now I have just found a third way to do it., and the most fastest and easiest of all as well!

Just open the Terminal and type the following command

sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse

Then press Enter, this should install the support for the exFAT file system and then type Exit to close and exit the terminal!

it doesn't get any faster or simpler then this!

Creating Multiple YouTube Channels under one Email or Username is easy!

So you are a big YouTuber and you might already have a YouTube channel but now you want to create another channel for a different subject but under the same login with same urername and password.

Just visit YouTube Channel Switcher and create a new channel beside the one that you alredy have if you wish.

I for example am being very impressed with gaming improvements and options on Linux that I decided to create a new channel specificly for Gaming on Linux!

Private Browsing Chrome on Linux by Default

Google Chrome is an outstanding browser as the world knows it and it always comes built in with the latest Adobe Flash for all my favorite videos and online games, but I still hate that it doesn't offer the option to Private Browse (incognito mode) the web by default!

I really love Linux in stability, security and performance as well and now I can apply familiar options as I do in Windows if I want to setup Google Chrome to start in Incognito Mode(Private Browsing) by default especially since I am not a fan of Web Browsing Cookies, Temporary Internet Files and various forms of web browsing history!

This instructions apply to Ubuntu Linux and Debian Based Linux Distributions(Linux Mint, Debian, and etc..)

First you copy Google Chrome to the Desktop and then you right click the the Google Chrome program and select Properties!

This is where it gets little Tricky but Fairly easy when Properties opens up click inside the Command Line Bar then release the mouse button and press the right arrow key on keyboard to reach till the end of the text! This is not required but recommended to make sure you don't cut or delete anything inside the bar!

When you finally reach the end with the right arrow key press once with the space bar on keyboard and type --incognito then close properties! You are practically done because when you double click on the desktop like usual then Google Chrome should load in Incognito Mode as shown in this video!

But the video also shows you after that how to delete any past web browsing history in case you didn't know how.

Best Linux Games are Waiting for You!

This is it Ladies and Gentleman, its History in the Making! Top Linux Games are Waiting for You!

For over Two Decades we have been depending on Two Primary Operating Systems MAC OS and Microsoft Windows!

We(the Whole World) were mainly limited to what we can do or use on our custom build computers and/or famous computer brands that you buy from local stores featuring these Two History Making Platforms that connected us all!

They Had & Still Have One Incredible Advantage They support over 99.9% of all software around the world!

There was always one hiddenly famous type of Operating System called Linux (Android OS on Phones and Tablets, PlayStation OS, Smart TVs, Wii, Blackberry,Apple and many more Unix-Like platforms but they are private)!

It so hidden that many websites and statistics still claim that no more then 1% percent of the world is using Linux! But what they were really referring to is the Open Source type of Linux (Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Fedora and so much more)!

The primary difference between Open Source Linux and Private Linux is that on Open Source you can do what you like on the Operating System and even modify the whole system if you know how and have the skills and passion to do so(computer programmers, c++ certified, java and so much more) and submit it to the world if you like!

But Private is what it is and you have to use it how its build, written, and finalized! Most Private Operating Systems are based on skills, knowledge, passions, experiments used on Open Source Linux to make it stable and Final for Private Source!

There is so many software tools to use on Linux like GIMP for free instead of expensive Adobe Photoshop and many more different types of software and tools that can keep up with Windows and Mac OS.

But for all Gamers around the World we had to use Famous Game Consoles(XBOX, PlayStation,Wii, Sega,Nintendo and etc.. over the years) or this two honorable OSs Windows, MAC OS on our computers!

Are you prepared for this Historical Change? I still get the goosebumps!

STEAM from Valve Corporation has released Top Quality Games for Linux such as Counter Strike and Half Life, Europa Universalis IV and so much more!!!

There are still so many games that are not available for Linux but do you have any idea how fast this is growing that I would rather save over $300 on Windows Licence, $80 on Security Software,$100 for virus removal, $150 for computer repair x 10 over the next few years($1500)!

The list of useless expenses is Endless well guess what so are the great Possibilities on Linux!

Thank you Steam, Valve Corporation and endless Game Designing Companies and Industries around the globe! Thank you from the bottom of my Heart!

And let the GAMES BEGIN..........!

exFAT File System for ReadyBoost in Windows 7

ReadyBoost for Windows 7 could prevent computer problems such as slowing down on old computers!

Did you recently upgrade your old computer to Windows 7? Does it seem to run slower then you hoped?

Since your computer is a bit old it could be using an old type of ram! And just because its old it doesn't mean its cheap! As a matter of fact its probably expensive to buy old ram since its a bit outdated and hard to find!

Why not use ReadyBoost for Windows 7 to Speed up your Computer using a blank USB(flash cards)! You can ReadyBoost Windows 7 by formatting an empty USB flash disk and then you right click on the drive go into properties and select ReadyBoost tab and you decider how much space you want to use to help performance

Using ReadyBoost is a great idea because its a very fast, and easy task!

This task literally designed for USB(flash cards) drives so there is no reason not to use it! Doing this will feel like you just upgraded the memory of your computer without opening the computer case and adding more ram!

But you know what else I recommend, using the exFAT file system when you format your USB flash cause its extremely fast and stable compare to FAT, FAT16, FAT32 and/or NTFS file systems!

What is a Virtual Machine?

A Virtual Machine is a like a hidden computer! I like to call it "Try it Before You Decide it"!

These virtual computer is hidden because its running inside the current running operating system on your desktop/laptop once you set it up.

Having a Virtual Machine can be very helpful and beneficial especially when a new Operating System comes out and you would first like to Try It Before You Buy It such as Windows 8 for example!

If a new Operating System comes out how could you decide if you like it or not unless you try it out. Unfortunately most stores offer just a demonstration with a Commercial User Account and Limited functionality and user control. You want to fully try it out and learn it as if you already own it!

But allot of times allot of inexperienced computer users risk trying it out by fully formatting their entire hard disk on the computer and delete everything that they know how to use and navigate on.

What happens if you don't like it? How do you go back to the way it was? Do you have to buy the Operating System all over again if its not a free version Operating System like Linux? If you purchased the Operating System again since you skipped to make recovery disks, how do you re-install it? Once you re-install it, are all the devices installed with it as well? If all the computer hardware/devices are not installed yet where do you find the DRIVERS for them? If the most important DRIVER like the Network Card is not installed with windows re-installation how are you going to connect to the Internet to download the rest of the device drivers?

Do you see where this is going? The headache is limitless and the list problems is endless!

This is where the virtual machine saves your day, because it gives you the chance to try it before you buy it if we are talking about Microsoft Windows! You could also Try it before you Decide it if you are trying Linux!

As long as your main computer is running a 64bit OS and has over 4GB of RAM (Randomly Accessed Memory) then you can test out any operating system of your choice. Learn to use it to the max in the Virtual Machine before you can feel fully comfortable to move forward to format your main computer with the new Operating System of your choice as the new default OS. Maybe even Better to Stay where you are with the current operating system that you  might be using as long as its not out of technical support and still secure for you to use!

This will better help you decide if it's worth buying a new computer with a new Operating System on it at all!

Now if your computer is running with 32bit Operating System you can still install the Virtualbox and still test out some operating systems but don't expect the performance to be fast and stable and make sure you have no less then 3GB memory and don't try to add more because 32bit Operating Systems can't read more then 3GB memory even if you added 16GB memory unless you are running Linux as the hosting Operating System!!!

My favorite Virtual Machine software is called Oracle VM VirtualBox and the best part is that its FREE! Once you download the VirtualBox you can set it up and try it out like I have been using it out since 2007.

Enable USB Support in Virtualbox on Linux via Terminal

Linux is getting better and better everyday and I got to be honest with you I really am thinking of switching over to Linux completely! It will still take a bit of time for full acceptance of only Linux but until then I can always have Windows aside whenever I need it!

There are plenty of software that can run only on Windows and its crucial that I still have it, that's why I've installed it on Virtualbox but I also need to access files that I've saved on my USB from Picture Editing to Word Documents and so forth on my USB!

Enabling USB Support to your Virtual Machine via Virtualbox is very important and its also necessary when its crucial times to open certain files on Windows and Windows related Programs! And its also convenient when you still want to install your USB connected printer as Well, even though Linux already covers most of them through generic drivers.

just open the Terminal and type sudo su and press Enter then it will ask for your password so type it out and press Enter.

Doing this will grant you root access and then you can give it the final command to enable USB support on Virtualbox in Linux.

The following should be entered in the Terminal usermod computers -a -G vboxusers and press Enter (computers was my username, what's your username on Linux that's the one you should use in this command!)!

Now all you have to do is restart the computer and enjoy the USB 2.0 support on your virtual machine operating system of your choice in Virtualbox.

Update Linux via Terminal

You know that keeping your operating system up to date is very important

You can update Ubuntu Linux via Terminal instead of just using the Update Manager.

I find it pretty convenient to update my system especially when I am already working in the terminal in advance and when I know that I have the time to check if my system is up to date.

just open the terminal if yours isn’t already running and inside it just type sudo su and press Enter to gain Root Access.

It will ask for your user password so just type it out and press enter.

Then in the terminal the directory should change from somethinbg like this

computersguide@computersguide-System-Product-Name:~$

into something like that below which grants you root access!

root@computersguide-System-Product-Name:/home/computersguide#

then just type apt-get upgrade and press Enter.

It will describe how many updates are available and how much space it will require to complete and if you agree with the updates then press Y as in Yes and press Enter to begin updating your system!

Once it completes you can close the terminal and reboot or use the terminal to reboot like I show on my sudo su shutdown in Linux Terminal YouTube Video .

sudo su Shutdown in Linux Terminal

If your learning how to use Linux in command line via Terminal like lets say Ubuntu Linux then here is a new command for you!

After you've done all your practice for the day how do you shut it down?

You can Abviosly shut it down by pressing the power button in the Uppper right corner of the screen but you want to learn how to work more like a pro!

So why not shut it down via terminal with the following commands!

When you open the Terminal in Debian Type Linux like Ubuntu first type sudo su and press Enter to open the command line with Super User Powers!

That’s really what sudo su stands for super user privileges because it allows you to do things that normally you wouldn’t be able to do by default.

There are many advanced commands that need the sudo su privileges to run properly.

Once you press Enter it will mostly likely ask for your user account password so just type it out in the terminal and press Enter again.

This will grant you root access and now you type shutdown -h now and press Enter!

How about if you are downloading a large File from the internet but you need to  leave the house cause you are in a hurry! Both things are important to complete but you can do only one thing at a time!

Suppose like now its 5 o’clock in the evening and the download will be complete by 5:20 but before you leave the house now just open the terminal and schedule it to shut down by 5:25 to be certain that the file is completely downloaded!

So instructions are really the same as above except now you can specify at what time you would like it for the computer to shut down with a minor modification by typing shutdown -h 17:25 and press Enter.

Notice I recommend typing 17:25 not 5:25 because Linux uses the 24 hour clock in the command line and if you typed 5:25 it would assume you mean in the morning so it would still work but for allot more additional hours without need!

Where is the Start Menu in Windows 8 ?

The Start Menu for Windows 8 is missing!

I have to admit that I miss the Classic Start Menu of Microsoft Windows cause I 've been using it countless number of times since Windows 95 that's long before Windows 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP, 2003 Server, 2008 Server, Vista, 7.

I know that its been used in even earlier version like Windows NT 3.1 that's before Windows 95 but I was only 10 years old and what do I know about computer back then or even the general public since The Global Internet that connects us today wasn't even out yet!

The real question is how could Microsoft take something away that it has been very well mastered, easy to use that we don't even pay attention when we use it? We just click on it and use it without notice since its part of our everyday lives for over twenty/20 years!

I am afraid I don't have an answer to that! I mean sure today most people can do anything on their phones, tablets and mobile devices but if they like something old and classic why do they have to take it away in order to add something new!

I feel like the whole Windows 8 should have been called Windows Media Center OS because that's really what it looks like to me. Even though it has allot more features then Windows Media Center alone just the design of it is very Internet Interactive! I really find it over 60 percent related to Google Chrome Operating System.

Its really a great feature but why did it had to be made primary? I don't have any answers to it yet, but what I do know is that there is a certain way to bring it back.

If you want the Classic Start Menu back or at least something familiar to it I recommend installing Classic Shell.

This is a software feature that could help you get back to what you are used to and still use the latest Windows 8 features called METRO when ever you fell like it!

Try CHKDSK /F or /R every once in a while!

Try CHKDSK /F or /R every once in a while, especially if your computer is consistently freezing!

CHKDSK is a Command Prompt that you can use when your computer isn't being itself(freezing, trouble logging in, slow, cant open certain files...etc)!

CHKDSK is practically checking the PHYSICAL STRUCTURE of your Hard Disk. It does what The old  SCANDISK used to do for Windows 95,98,ME!

It checks for bad clusters, sectors, and if its really bad it might mainly mean to replace old hard drive with new! Do it once in a while and it might help more than you think!

This Command is olso very familiar to FSCK in Linux .

  • Click Start, then type CMD in the Search box
  • Right click the cmd.exe, and then click Run as Administrator, if you get asked for password that would be the same password that you would have set to use to log on to Windows
  • At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /F and press Enter then restart your computer and check for errors when its finished the computer will reboot back to windows

Read & Write to exFAT file system on Linux

Let's Fix the Linux ERROR mounting an unknown file system type 'exfat'.

I've already shown how to install Microsoft's exFAT file system support on Linux before but now there is an easier, familiar and faster way to do it!

First thing you should do after logging into Linux is plug in the SD CARD, USB FLASH Card or additional Internal/External Hard Disk Storage that is formated into exFAT file system and then open the Terminal in Linux and type the following!

SUDO SU then press ENTER

Then it will ask for your User Password, type it out and press Enter!

Then type APT-ADD-REPOSITORY PPA:RELAN/EXFAT then press Enter

After you press Enter a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement that Google has bought from Microsoft to use their exFAT file system on Google's Mobile Android Linux Operating System that can be used on mobile devices if you've enabled root access) for the free exFAT file system implementation project message will load up!

Once again you have to press ENTER to Continue or CTRL+C to Cancel.

Then after executing this command in the terminal and a few seconds later you should type
APT-GET UPDATE and press ENTER! This is to make sure that everything that is needed for this package to work is up to date!

And then at last the final command you should type in the terminal is APT-GET INSTALL FUSE-EXFAT press ENTER to finally install the support for exFAT on Linux!

It will ask you one more time if you would like to Continue? then Press Y as in Yes and press ENTER!

As of now after you exit the Terminal you should start enjoying the support of the exFAT file system on Linux!

Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool could be needed!

Is your computer acting funny, I mean does it run smooth all the time but out of nowhere it just freezes unexpectedly when ever it wants too!

You know that you have checked your computer for viruses and malware, you've optimized it as well through defragmentation and other optimizing tasks!

So What's the Problem?

Possible Answer...!

You Could be facing some memory issues on your computer, One of your Memory sticks could be defective. Thats where a Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool comes in!

Why not check and see for yourself by running a diagnostic memory test cause this option is included since Windows Vista, instead of paying someone else the big bucks $$$ to do it for you.

At the end of the diagnostic testing using this tool you can learn if you need to replace and/or purchase new memory for a familiar price that it would have cost for a technician to diagnose it for you!

Radiation Exposure from your PC / Laptop can be prevented by...!

Radiation Exposure to you from your PC / Laptop can be prevented by over 99% with a new Nano Technolgy by Torsion TM.

Have you ever bumped into a situation where you know exectly what you are going to do on the computer today and you have it all planned out and filled with confidence. You are like "This job is going to be done in less then an hour" no matter what!

You work in the office for over 20 years on the desk, nothing can stop you!

No more then then 10 to 15 minutes later after sitting on the desk on your laptop/pc starting from 8 or 9 in the Morning in the office, and the fact that you had a great night sleep, out of nowhere all of a sudden you are beginning to feel....

  • more sleepy
  • more tired
  • more depressed
  • more stressed out
  • filled with headache
  • lost
  • confused
  • unrested
  • start to forget little things
  • itchy eyes
  • things are less clear and etc..

You figure lets grab a cup of coffe then in no time start talking with your co workers how this is not your day, and when you return from break it feels even worse!

This is a sign of Exposure to Radiation according to an Academic, Veniamin D. Ivanov.

It has been scientificlly researched that that blood and the urine of a 10 year old child changes after 15 minutes of work on the computer and it even coincides with figures with cancer!

This and many other heath care ralated issues can supposedly be prevented with 5 Protective Chips.

Four of them should be attached to the monitor at all four angles if its a monitor with a webcam!

If its a monitor without webcam then you could attached them to the center of all four sides!

Now I am not a rocket scientist or a doctor but i have to admit that after I applied those protective chips to my laptops and desktops that I have for testing purposes, I feel a whole lot different and more clear minded than before!

And now I can drink my favorite tea instead of pushing my self with caffein to stay focused and awake!

How to partition a hard drive!

Creating a partion is a very important critical step to optimizing your computer!

Many computers that I have fixed over the years I have found over sixty five pervent of them to be installed with only one famously known partition drive C:\

Having only one partition on the hard disk is a hassle for long term because sooner or later when you try to complete a simple task on the computer as simple as loading a video clip online it could take forever, freeze, or worse experience the blue screen of death on Windows!

The cause of this is becuase of several reasons but this one plays a major role!

Imagine you have dozens of physical files and folders you open the cabinet and you only want one particular document how are you going to find that one document if you haven't organized them and devided them in several categories(partitions)!

I reccomend the following configurarion for partitioning on a hard disk! I will Assume that you are using a One Terabyte Hard Disk since its very common today!

25% = 250 Gygabytes for Windows and Software on C:\ Drive
35% = 350 Gygabytes for Downloads on D:\ Drive
45% = 450 Gygabytes for Everything else including Backup on E:\ Drive

exFAT for Linux

To Mount exFAT File System for Linux using the terminal isn't quite difficult.

Its a great and stable(less fragmenting) File System that is even available for Linux! Because its is still under development it requires extra steps to use it in Linux today!

Hopefully my YouTube video can help you Mount an exFAT partition into your Linux OS Computer!

Schedule Disk Defragmentation to Optimize and Maintain pc/laptop performance!

You should Schedule Disk Defragmentation on your computer using Disk Defragmenter to work daily instead of weekly if you would like to optimize and maintain your PC/Laptop performance using Windows on HDD.

You can prevent your computer from freezing, slowing down, and/or crashing in long term!

The Problem with Disk Defragmenter being scheduled to defragment your hard disk weekly by default is that most of the time it skips it almost every week for many months to come!

That's why the computer's performance and the hard disk's health status is almost never maintained, but when its scheduled to defragment daily it will defrag your hard disk at least twice a week during normal computer use, and the best part is that it will be unnoticeable when its doing it.

That way your files will stay in the right place on your hard drive instead of spreading around from one end of the hard drive to other or being broken down into dozens of pieces like a puzzle(one part of a file at one end, one part of the same file at the other end of the hard disk)!

This will basically prevent fragmentation, file loss, blue screen crashes due to hard to read and process data and etc...

And then every time you try to do a simple task such as downloading a file you wouldn't have to wonder around why it takes forever, why your computer all of a sudden begins to make loud noises until loads up or even why it gets stuck at 99.9% when you are downloading a file at very fast speed and etc...!

When you schedule to defrag your computer to lets say 1:00AM, it doesn't mean that you have to keep the computer up till 1:00AM to defrag!

What it really means is that when you turn the computer ON during normal time of the day it will realize that it didn't defrag your computer yet during the day so it will defrag automatically during the day when you are not doing too much on your computer(check email, play videos, chat ant etc...)!
